Such a special, joyful day celebrating Jeannette’s memory and creative legacy.

All went splendidly.

The locals were very welcoming and happy that a building with such a long history had been saved and was alive again in the community. Many came and they joined in the festivities with enthusiasm.

Vikings arrived, mooring their galley just across the bay from the gallery.

Very gracious and great fun.

The celebrations continued at the nearby St Magnus Bay Hotel with sets by excellent local musicians in the afternoon.

In the evening there were performances of some of Jeannette’s songs for Tina Turner by granddaughter Chlöe and the Isle of Wight band Stagefright. She did so well, very touching. Grandson Aaron made a guest appearance for two songs in Stagefright’s set.

Jeannette’s dear friend Claire Maxwell read a beautiful heartfelt poem dedicated to the event.

There was a very moving set by Rupert Hine, singing  – with Chris Thomson of Edinburgh band Café Jacques, for the first time in decades, songs he and Jeannette had written together.

The excellent Reuben Tighe also played, as did local legendary fiddler Bryan Gear.

Stagefright continued through the evening with a great response from all.

It was a poignant, and joyous occasion, with some rather unique and awesome dancing from the locals especially.

Next day there were tours of the islands’ main attractions for the visitors, and a whisky tasting evening with local raconteur, broadcaster, author and whisky expert, Tom Morton.
